Most moving checklists are generic. This one is written for Franklin specifically: the utility providers you'll actually call, the traffic windows that matter, and the local timing quirks that trip people up.
Eight weeks out

Four weeks out
- Schedule utilities: electric (Middle Tennessee Electric or Nashville Electric Service, depending on address), water and sewer through the City of Franklin, and internet.
- File a change of address with USPS.
- Book your moving bins for delivery a few days before packing week.
- Reserve elevators or check HOA rules if you're moving into a managed community.
Two weeks out
- Pack everything you don't use weekly.
- Confirm mover and bin delivery times in writing.
- Arrange care for pets and small kids on move day — it makes a bigger difference than any packing tip.
- Update your address with your bank, insurance and TN driver's license record.
Move week in Franklin
Avoid loading or unloading between 7:30–9:00am and 4:00–6:30pm near Cool Springs and the Mack Hatcher/Franklin Road intersections — the traffic will cost you an hour. Mid-morning starts work best for local moves.
If you're moving in or out of downtown Franklin, check whether your street allows a truck to park curbside; some of the historic district blocks are narrow and get busy on event weekends.
After the move
